The Garden - The Early months

This is blummin' hard work

This was thought to be such a simple task. "just dig a hole and fill it in with water....." - mmmmm if only..

Still here!

How many wheelbarrows, skips and bags are we going to fill here!

Thirsty work being in the desert

As you can see here, after creating the hole, we had to fill it in with a ton, yes a TON of sand!

Neatly does it!

Yep!, a womans touch to smooth it all out....of course I did some! :-)

And for my next trick.....

I am going to make a hole dissappear!

Nearly there!

You can see here that we had to fill it up as we went along to even out the liner. Oh by the way, I recieved the liner as a gift from Victorias mum! - wasn't that nice...I certainly thought so! - Thank you Christine and Geoff!!

Its getting fuller!

Well, actually it took about two hours to fill!!!

The finished article

There are other photo's of the pond, however at this stage this is all I have prepared.....now didn't that hard work pay off? - I think so...

Another angle....

Doesn't it look lovely!

Fish!

Very hard to capture the fish, but here we are...

The fish feeding

Its great to see them feeding...

Close up of the Lilly Flower

Beautiful!

My pride and joy

It feels really good knowing that this plant was a mere stump in a lump of clay when we planted it in early spring. We bought both lillies for a fiver at B&Q, great buy indeed!

Other marginal plants

THis area was the first place we planted our grass (on the right). It was out of the season when we planted it howeverthis year its growing wuite well. There is a lilly flower head growing its way up through the water, but you won't be able to see it yet..

Lillies and other stuff

This area of the pond has alsorts of little creatures, including very small fish, or at least that what they look like, I will try to get a snap for you to see....I have also found a water boatman beetle in this area, aswell as other creatures such as snails

The pond July 2003

As you can see the pond has developed well. We have more plants in the pond than last year, purely because the pond wasn't finished until after the planting season, all we had was a lump of grass growing at one corner....
